colorado vacation 2008:
somebody once told me that if you are going to take a road trip between topeka and denver, do it at night. so most of the time, this is what we do! it really does help the trip out as your passengers can sleep easier and you don't have the sun beating your face in all day long. but even then, things can get a bit booring. so this trip, we wasted about 3 hours just taking pictures of the road, experimenting with different lenses, apatures, and shutter speeds, as well as some different ways to move the camera around while the car was barreling down the road.
we didn't spend much time in the city, but we did try to hit one or two of our favorites. cb & potts is always a great place to eat, and they make their own great brews, so of course we had to get a picture of that. another favorite is lookout mountian.
every time we to go colorado, we try to see audrey, brett, and bailey. this time we had our camera so we got tons of pictures. you have to be friends or family to see these pictures. if you don't have a user name and password,

the famous line [youtube.com] in the movie, "
space balls" [imdb.com], this site is a collection of pictures that we took at night going through a mountain pass. the speed limit on the pass is only 25mph, so we took these pictures to make us feel like we were going faster and to pass the time.
the
garden of the gods is a free attraction in colorado springs where you can go and enjoy some pretty impressive rocks. normally, rocks aren't all that exciting. but these are an exception to that rule.
the girl formally named as julie ehmke got married to the guy still known as carl. and we have a few pictures that shelly took at their wedding. this is another one of those special folders for friends and family. you have to have a user name and password to get in. if you are friend or family and want a password

bird watching!
this airshow featured a number of static and arial displayes, headlined by the thunderbirds. this is the first airshow that shelly got to see where somebody didn't auger in. this is, of course, a plus. in addition to seeing the thunderbirds, we got to see a p-51 / f-15 formation flight and a coursir / f-18 legacy flight. if you are a plane buff like i am, that is a huge treat.
Christmas 2008
this gallery features some of the pictures that shelly took over christmas 2008. some of these photographs are decorations from our house, our inlaws house, and some of the decorating that was done at central park christian church in topeka kansas. click on the thumbnail in the gallery, and you can see a larger version of the thumbnail. click on the larger thumbnail and you can see a 1024x768 version of the picture that you can save to your desktop and use as a wallpaper if you are so inclined.
